I plan to upgrade the rest of the system soon but thought that using the new Graphics card for now should not be a problem. Not sure if it is relevant, but the new card is PCI 4, while my motherboard has PCI 3. I quickly uninstalled the Nvidia drivers using mhwd and installed video-linux instead (using the tty). When I booted, Xorg did not start, which I somewhat expected. I did not prepare at all and just replaced the Cards. I just replaced my old Nvidia GPU (GTX 970) with a new AMD GPU (Radeon RX 6700 XT).
